How We’ll Work Together
This article explains the details of what it’s like to work with me.
Working As A Team
I want you to have a great experience working with me!
So, I will do my best to respond timely to your requests, value your opinions, share my expertise, and to explain myself clearly. I will also deliver the best end result I can and do my best work for you at all times.
And, I know your time and resources are valuable, so I will always get your approval before increasing the cost of your project and be as clear as possible about what’s included or not in the work I am doing for you.
In return, I ask that you are also responsive, take an active part in the project, and communicate in a clear and productive fashion.
In short, we need to work together like a team in a respectful way to ensure that your project is a success.
Communication
The best way to reach out for a quick response is to email me. I usually respond within a few hours. If you have an emergency, you can always leave me a voicemail message. I do receive email alerts when voicemail comes in.
You are always welcome to schedule a phone or Zoom call, too! I’m happy to have a longer conversation with you at a pre-scheduled time.
I generally don’t return emails after 6:30 p.m. PST, or on the weekend. I sometimes work on Saturday, but don’t count on it!
Client Portal
I’ll give all clients access to a client portal. You will have access to the following project documents on your client portal:
- Proposals
- Contracts
- Questionnaires / Forms / Worksheets
- Invoices
- Task Boards (Simple to do check lists I may give you)\
- Emails sent by my client management system (sending questionnaires, invoices, etc.)
Providing Valuable Feedback
I need your feedback and participation in order to create the most effective website possible.
Here are a few tips about providing feedback:
- Be as specific as possible – explain what exactly isn’t right, and why doesn’t it work for you.
- Be honest – you’re not going to hurt my feelings, I need to honestly know what you think.
- Don’t ask random people – feedback from your mom, best friend, or social media group isn’t helpful. We need to focus on your audience, not anyone else’s opinion.
- Remember your audience – Keep them in mind and put yourself in their shoes when reviewing the project.
- Don’t try to fix it – that’s my job! You hired me for my expertise.
- Sleep on it – review, and then review again tomorrow. Sometimes having a night or two in between your initial reaction and sending me your feedback can help pinpoint what you really love, and what needs work.
- Ask questions – if you don’t know why I did something the way I did, ask. Everything is done for a specific reason, and I’m happy to explain why I went a certain route with your project.
- Be prompt – please provide your feedback when I request it. Often, I cannot continue working on your project until I receive your feedback. Delays in providing feedback will delay your project. Don’t worry – I will give you time to think about your feedback before the due date.
